QA/Data Engineer

Job Description

Our client is seeking a QA / Data Engineer to support the implementation of a new credit decisioning platform. This is a highly hands-on role focused on data quality validation, automated testing, and API verification within a modern data environment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys ensuring data integrity across complex workflows and can quickly contribute to a fast-paced implementation effort.

This is not a traditional Software QA position and is not a pure Data Engineering role. The primary focus will be validating data flowing through decisioning systems, testing APIs, reviewing decision logs and scoring outputs, and building automated testing solutions within Databricks.

Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and execute automated data quality tests using Python, SQL, and Databricks. Validate API inputs and outputs, ensuring data accuracy and consistency throughout the decisioning process. Perform comprehensive data quality checks including: Null value validation Duplicate detection Missing or incorrect data identification Record count reconciliations Data integrity verification Build and maintain automated test suites and scheduled validation jobs. Validate decision logs, scoring results, and system outputs generated by the credit decisioning platform. Collaborate with engineering, business, and implementation teams to identify and resolve data quality issues. Review database structures, mappings, and entity relationships to ensure accurate data processing. Document testing methodologies, findings, and remediation recommendations.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3-5 years of experience in a Data QA, Data Quality Engineer, ETL Testing, Data Validation, or similar role.
• Strong hands-on experience with: Databricks, Python, Advanced SQL
• Experience performing data validation and quality assurance across large datasets.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs and API testing methodologies.
• Experience building and maintaining automated testing frameworks and scripts.
• Understanding of database design concepts, data modeling, and Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs).
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience within financial services, fintech, banking, or lending environments.
• Exposure to credit decisioning platforms and workflows.
• Experience working with Provenir or similar decisioning/rules-based platforms.
• Familiarity with scoring engines, decision logs, and credit risk data processing.
