Controller

Description We are looking for a Controller to join a Contract position based in New Britain, Connecticut. This role will support core accounting and financial oversight activities, with a strong focus on accurate close processes, grant-related reporting, and timely financial analysis. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach to reconciliations, reporting, and budgeting while helping maintain compliance and reliable financial records.

Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly close activities to ensure financial records are completed accurately and on schedule.

• Prepare and post journal entries that support organized, compliant, and well-documented accounting operations.

• Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate variances to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.

• Produce financial reports that provide leadership with clear visibility into organizational performance.

• Manage grant-related accounting tasks, including reporting obligations and adherence to funding requirements.

• Support forecasting efforts by analyzing financial trends and helping project upcoming results.

• Review budget versus actual results, identify key differences, and communicate findings to stakeholders.

• Utilize Abila MIP to maintain accounting data and support routine financial management activities. Requirements • Demonstrated experience overseeing month-end close in an accounting environment with strong attention to detail.

• Strong background in preparing journal entries and reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts.

• Experience creating financial reports and presenting accurate accounting data for decision-making purposes.

• Knowledge of grant accounting, grant administration, and compliance-related reporting requirements.

• Ability to analyze budget-to-actual results and contribute to forecasting and financial planning activities.

• Proficiency with Abila MIP or comparable accounting software.

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a Contract role.
