DIRECT PLACEMENT - CNC Machinist – Horizontal Milling (Makino)

2nd Shift: 4PM-2:00AM Mon-Thurs

Weekend Shift: 4AM-4PM OR 4PM-4AM Friday-Sunday

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with hands-on experience in horizontal milling systems, particularly Makino equipment. In this role, you set up and operate CNC turning or milling machines, interpret blueprints and engineering drawings, and perform precise quality checks on finished products. You play a key part in ensuring accurate, high-quality components while maintaining a clean, safe, and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to determine machining requirements and specifications.

  • Set up CNC turning or milling machines, including horizontal milling systems, to meet production and quality standards.

  • Operate CNC machines to produce parts according to detailed drawings and process instructions.

  • Perform quality checks and inspections on finished products to verify accuracy, dimensions, and overall quality.

  • Make adjustments to machine settings, tooling, and programs as needed to maintain optimal performance and part quality.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety practices and guidelines.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production status, issues, and improvements.

  • Follow established procedures and work instructions to ensure consistent and reliable machining operations.

  • Handle materials and components safely, including lifting items up to 50 pounds as required by the job.

Essential Skills

  • 2–3 years of experience as a CNC machinist, preferably with horizontal milling systems; recent graduates from machining programs are also considered.

  • Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC turning or milling machines.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings accurately.

  • Mechanical aptitude and strong understanding of machining processes.

  • Proficiency working with horizontal mills, including Makino systems.

  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on precision and quality.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely as part of daily duties.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $97760.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
