Position Purpose: Acquired by The Home Depot in 2012, we operate with autonomy as a product lab supporting the larger enterprise. BlackLocus is seeking creative, thoughtful coders to join our development team. Our people solve interesting, challenging problems while working closely with data scientists, product, and business analysts. We build tools to make business actions simple even from large data sets. Our data mining, AI solutions pipelines and user-facing applications are built primarily in Java, Python, Golang and JavaScript. Our services and tools are entirely cloud-deployed.

BlackLocus Data Engineers are responsible for the active development of enterprise-facing software tools to automate retail merchandising decisions across pricing, assortment and omnichannel experiences. As a Data Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team with engineers, data scientists, and product leaders of all experience levels who help each other build and grow technical and leadership skills while creating, deploying, and supporting production applications. Data Engineers primarily focus on the BlackLocus data orchestration platform that supports applications and external facing data-related solutions.

Travel Requirements:

  • No travel required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with to a general-purpose programming language (preferably Python)
  • Experience with SQL (preferably mySQL, PostgreSQL, and/or BigQuery)
  • Exposure to source code version control
  • Exposure to noSQL database technology
  • Exposure to cloud computing techniques
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools
  • Exposure to microservice-based architecture

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
