JOB POSTING TITLE: Principal, Software Engineer 1

JOB LOCATION: 2260 E. Imperial Highway El Segundo, CA 90245 [and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.; may work from home]

Principal, Software Engineer 1 needed by DIRECTV, LLC in El Segundo, CA [and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.; may work from home] to collaborate with peers and design advertising software solutions based on the solutions architecture, business, and system requirements. Design and develop end-to-end solutions managing dependencies and cross-team impacts. Developed software code utilizing programming languages including Go/Python and the AWS cloud services tools and technologies. Execute a rigorous quality assurance testing process to ensure the design and software code meet the requirements. Comply with a rigorous software change deployment process with the goal of deploying developed and tested code into production so the business can realize the benefits defined. Utilize experience in software development to provide solution-based outcomes for varied complex problems. Mentor junior team members on Scrum team or development team by providing consistent guidance on technical approach and best practices. Manage risk and request help from leadership when necessary to meet commitments or change directions. Utilize experience in software engineering and the design, full-stack development of complex systems, including as a team lead. Work in multiple Safe Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and familiarity with the tooling used to coordinate this work (Jira). Develop and deploy to cloud environments, AI-enabled tooling. Deliver high-performance, accessible, and responsive applications using modern performance profiling and optimization techniques. Utilize modern delivery and deployment practices, such as CI/CD, quality automation, test-driven development, and release strategies. Contribute to software architecture decisions and technical roadmaps, aligning with organizational goals. Utilize AWS cloud services (VPC, EC2, S3, EKS, SQS, Lambda, Kinesis, and IAM). Utilize Kubernetes. Apply knowledge of logging infrastructure, monitoring, and dashboarding tools (SumoLogic, ELK/OpenSearch/CloudWatch). Utilize Shell scripting and Linux OS. Utilize DB, Snowflake and SQL. Support various levels of testing (Unit, Pair and System).

REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Bachelor degree, or foreign equivalent degree, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered, or 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in a related occupation utilizing programming languages including Go/Python and the AWS cloud services tools and technologies; utilizing experience in software engineering and the design, full-stack development of complex systems, including as a team lead; working in multiple Safe Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and familiarity with the tooling used to coordinate this work (Jira); developing and deploying to cloud environments, AI-enabled tooling; delivering high-performance, accessible, and responsive applications using modern performance profiling and optimization techniques; utilizing modern delivery and deployment practices, such as CI/CD, quality automation, test-driven development, and release strategies; contributing to software architecture decisions and technical roadmaps, aligning with organizational goals; utilizing AWS cloud services (VPC, EC2, S3, EKS, SQS, Lambda, Kinesis, and IAM); utilizing Kubernetes; applying knowledge of logging infrastructure, monitoring, and dashboarding tools (SumoLogic, ELK/OpenSearch/CloudWatch); utilizing Shell scripting and Linux OS; utilizing DB, Snowflake and SQL; and supporting various levels of testing (Unit, Pair and System).
