Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an energetic, solutions-driven Crew Chief to join our growing team in Hamilton, OH. We're looking for a motivated leader who thrives in the field, takes initiative, and enjoys tackling challenges.

Join our innovative Survey/Geospatial team and work with advanced technology to collect precise data from the air, ground, and subsurface. Help deliver the insights that drive critical projects while growing your career with an industry leader.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and perform advanced field surveys within the defined project scope and budget, using the most efficient methods, and in accordance with applicable standards of practice.

  • Interact with project site supervisors and client field representatives.

  • Prepare accurate, detailed field notes and reports of daily activity in a timely manner.

  • Perform in-field calculations for construction stakeout and various land surveys with minimal assistance from office support team.

  • Prepare or receive from the PM, the Health, and Safety Checklists. Review and instruct other crew personnel on all safety hazards, PPE, etc. associated with the work being performed.

  • Maintain, transport, and operate the instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for a survey.

  • Operate and maintain the survey vehicle in accordance with the Company vehicle manual.

  • Mentor and train junior field staff to facilitate career advancement.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of field survey experience and at least 2+ year of experience as a Crew Chief, or equivalent knowledge.

  • Candidates must be proficient with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, conventional field note-keeping, total stations and leveling.

  • Experience with civil surveying and construction staking required.

  • Experience with or ability to learn the use of 3D scanners.

  • Candidate must be a self-starter, with little need for supervision once provided with a work assignment.

  • Must be able to work in inclement weather.

  • Willingness to travel.

  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record required. MVR will be checked and monitored.

  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Requires a pre-employment drug screen and will require ongoing participation in the employer's random drug and alcohol testing program.
