About the Position:
The Fiscal Technician 3 (FT3) supports the mission of the agency by working to reduce citizens’ vulnerability to fire, crime, terror, and natural hazards. In alignment with the Fire Prevention Division’s strategic plan, the All-Risk Mobilization program is tasked with accurately tracking Mobilization expenses and providing timely reimbursement to fire agencies participating in Mobilization responses.
This position uses independent judgement and problem-solving skills to identify discrepancies in financial documents, make minor corrections without supervisor approval, and is able to articulate those issues to staff, supervisor(s), and external partners/customers. About the Division: The Fire Prevention Division is active in providing a variety of Fire Protection services including all risk mobilization, fire inspections on licensed care facilities, plan review of schools, data collection, analysis, hazardous materials training, and the licensing and certification of the fire sprinkler, fireworks, and cigarette industries to both public and private sectors. These sections provide planning, training, and technical assistance for firefighters and emergency responders who are mobilized for statewide emergencies such as hazardous materials, earthquakes, nuclear facilities, as well as other high-risk situations.

As a Fiscal Technician 3, this position is responsible for:• Preparation of mobilization invoice vouchers from audited fire documents
- Investigating discrepancies and contacting submitting agency for corrections
- Ensuring timely forwarding of invoice vouchers to Accounts Payable
- Scanning and archiving of Professional Development & Response Section convenience copies of invoice vouchers
- Auditing financial system payments against Professional Development & Response Section records
- Preparing monthly Mobilization financial reports
- Outreach to fire agencies to ensure timely submission of reimbursement claims
- Supporting Fire Prevention Division invoice voucher preparation activities
- Division wide clerical support as needed
Schedule (i.e., hours and days): This position may work a 5/8 or 4/10 40 hour workweek, or a 9/80 alternating day off schedule, typically from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hours may be adjusted.Required Qualifications:• High School Diploma or GED.

Experience and/or training in Microsoft suite of software products, particularly Excel.
