Full job description
It's more than a job
As a member of the Freight Forwarding team Kuehne+Nagel, you will play a key role in transporting goods, optimising processes, and fulfilling our customers' promises. And by transporting medicines, toys and important machine parts, you are not only delivering goods, you are making small and big moments possible for people all around the world. At Kuehne+Nagel, our contribution counts in more ways than we imagine.
As a National Sea Logistics Implementation Project Manager, you will lead complex, customer-facing implementation projects across Kuehne+Nagel’s U.S. Sea Logistics network. You will manage projects from initial scope and planning through go-live, stabilization, and handoff, working closely with customers, operational teams, technical teams, and stakeholders across multiple countries.
This is a national U.S. role that may be based at a Kuehne+Nagel location across the country. The position generally follows an eight-hour workday, but because projects involve global teams, occasional early morning or later meetings may be necessary to accommodate European and Asian time zones. Project Managers have flexibility in managing their schedules around those meetings. The team also experiences a higher-volume implementation season, typically from April through June, and the role requires approximately 20% domestic travel.
This is a highly collaborative role for someone who can take ownership of a project, keep multiple teams aligned, manage risks and deadlines, and confidently lead stakeholders without direct authority.
How you create impact
You will lead complex Sea Logistics implementation projects from initial scope through go-live, stabilization, and handoff. This includes translating customer requirements into project plans, coordinating internal and external stakeholders, managing timelines and dependencies, and keeping projects moving across multiple teams and countries.
-
Own project scope, milestones, risks, dependencies, status reporting, and escalations
-
Lead internal and customer project meetings and keep responsibilities and deadlines clear
-
Coordinate operational, technical, sales, customer, and third-party stakeholders
-
Identify risks and roadblocks early and work with the right teams to resolve them
-
Support system and data integration activity tied to customer implementations
-
Guide projects through go-live, hypercare, stabilization, and operational handoff
What we would like you to bring
You bring established project management experience and understand how to lead a project through its full lifecycle. You are comfortable working directly with customers, managing competing priorities, and driving cross-functional teams even when the people involved do not report directly to you.
-
Strong project management, organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
-
Confident customer-facing communication and stakeholder management
-
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority
-
Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, transportation, or another complex operational environment preferred
-
Sea Logistics or ocean freight knowledge is highly desirable
-
Comfort working with technical requirements, systems, or data integration projects
-
Ability to work effectively with international teams and flex your schedule when global meetings require it
-
Professional Spanish-language skills and export experience are preferred, but not required
