Job Description:

• We are seeking mechanically inclined and skilled construction candidates to join our team at QTS data center in Cedar Rapids, IA. As a Cable Technician, you will work with blueprints and use hand and power tools to assemble and mount trays, server racks, and pull fiber optic cable. You will perform various tasks, including scanning inventory, unpacking materials, building server racks, installing servers and switches, and running cable. Training will be provided. This position is entry-level, offering a great opportunity to enter the data center industry.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and mount trays and server racks using blueprints.

• Pull and run fiber optic cable from point A to point B.

• Dress fiber cable.

Essential Skills

• Experience on construction sites.

• Mechanical aptitude with 6 months to 1 year of experience.

• Ability to follow blueprints.

• Ability to work in a team and attention to detail.

• Problem-solving skills and ability to work in high-pressure environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in structured cabling or construction from any trade.

• Self-motivated and positive approach.

• Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project documents.

• Capability to see and distinguish different colors and hear audible signals.

• Willingness to travel within regional territory.

Work Environment:

• This is a fully on-site position in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, performed on an active construction site. The job requires adherence to safety protocols and the wearing of PPE, including steel-toed boots, hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves. The schedule consists of five 10-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, 7am to 5:30pm, with occasional Saturdays if needed. The environment is an assembly line atmosphere for the build-out of server racks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
