About the Role

As the HSE Manager (Data Centers), you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs across our critical data center facilities. This role sits within the Environmental Health and Safety function and is vital to safeguarding employees, contractors, and critical infrastructure. You will manage specialized procedures tailored to high-availability environments, ensuring zero downtime caused by safety or environmental incidents.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive Safety Culture: Promote a rigorous, proactive safety culture that influences stakeholders and ensures strict compliance across 24/7 data center environments.

  • Refine Critical Procedures: Implement and review specialized HSE playbooks, emergency response plans, and Method Statements (RAMS) for critical environments.

  • Standardize Initiatives: Ensure critical infrastructure HSE initiatives drive program consistency, regulatory alignment, and operational efficiency.

  • Manage Critical Risks: Track and mitigate high-risk hazards specific to data centers, including high-voltage electrical systems, arc flash, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), working at heights, and hazardous chemical management (e.g., diesel fuel, fire suppression systems).

  • Develop Mitigation Strategies: Manage strategic risk-management programs to eliminate potential incidents and avoid operational or infrastructure disruptions.

  • Investigate & Prevent: Monitor and analyze injury, illness, and near-miss reports to provide immediate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

  • Oversee Account Compliance: Monitor HSE regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, EPA, local codes) within the data center portfolio.

  • Partner with Operations: Work closely with Facilities Engineering and Mission Critical teams to create strategic solutions that maintain uptime while ensuring compliance.

  • Audit & Communicate: Conduct regular facility audits to identify potential hazards, communicating findings and deficiencies directly to functional site managers.

  • Model Leadership: Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values.

  • Influence Stakeholders: Align diverse site teams, vendor partners, and contractors to reach agreements on rigorous safety protocols.

  • Solve Complex Issues: Troubleshoot and resolve technical, day-to-day HSE challenges inherent to complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure systems.

What You’ll Need

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 3–5 years of relevant HSE experience, specifically within data centers, critical infrastructure, mission-critical environments, or heavy industrial sectors. (A combination of relevant experience and education will be considered).

  • Industry Certifications: Relevant safety certifications preferred (e.g., CSP, CHMM, OSHA 30-Hour, or local equivalents).

  • Communication Skills: Ability to guide the exchange of complex, sensitive technical safety information, convey clear performance expectations, and resolve issues under pressure.

  • Leadership Capabilities: Strong leadership skills to motivate teams, direct external contractors, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the safety program.

  • Technical Proficiency: High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and digital HSE management tracking software.
