Job Title: Environmental Engineer

Job Description

The Environmental Engineer will be responsible for the implementation, administration, interpretation, and enforcement of environmental requirements at various levels, including plant, corporate, local, state, and federal regulations. The role requires establishing and maintaining environmental standards based on risk and hazard analysis to meet regulatory requirements and HSE management systems. The engineer will also review environmental incidents to determine root causes and establish corrective and preventative actions, while providing technical assistance to various plant staff functions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental compliance and reporting needs for the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Toxic Release Inventory Program, Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act.

  • Improve and develop cost-saving projects in waste management system design.

  • Lead environmental audits of key program areas to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company norms.

  • Coordinate environmental-related communication, including training, alerts, and production review meetings.

  • Collaborate with department engineers to ensure chemicals in use have HSE approval, assisting with the completion of chemical approvals to ensure products comply with TSCA and internal requirements.

  • Develop and revise environmental-related policies and procedures for the plant and drive implementation.

  • Lead or participate in incident investigation, facilitating root cause analysis and proper corrective and preventative actions.

  • Participate in plant emergency response teams.

  • Assist with safety-related functions as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Environmental engineering within a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in environmental compliance within a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience coordinating with agencies and consultants to obtain permits.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • College degree or 5 years of relevant EHS, Environmental Specialist activities, or manufacturing experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with MS Office, including Excel and Word.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • B.S. in Chemical, Environmental, Engineering, or Sciences preferred.

  • Project management exposure and methodologies to drive impact.

  • Knowledge of Safety and Environmental Management Systems (ISO).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Five plus years of manufacturing experience.

Work Environment

The role is situated within an automotive and manufacturing environment. The position reports to the HSE Lead.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Anderson, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $43.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
