The EEG Technician is responsible for neurodiagnostic procedures under the supervision of physicians and clinical supervisor within the Neurology specialty.
Role Responsibilities:
- Uses customer service principles and techniques to interact with patients calmly and pleasantly.
- Obtains, verifies, and records patient health history.
- Gathers pertinent health data by reviewing previous patient records, including EEG results related to neurologic diagnoses.
- Faxes outstanding orders and documents.
- Produces results for provider interpretation and attaches results to orders in the EMR.
- Provides basic patient care as ordered.
- Conducts pre-test discussions with patients to create a calm environment and support the best possible test results.
- Performs diagnostic EEG procedures.
- Adheres to infection control, safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies.
- Assists with setup for EMG testing.
- Orders supplies and maintains the EEG machine and testing room.
- Promotes wellness by communicating physician advice and instructions.
- Communicates with clinical and clerical team members to support a successful patient-centered practice.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Diploma from an accredited EEG program
- Valid EEG registry certification
- CPR/BLS Healthcare Provider certification required within 90 days of employment
- Current health records with appropriate immunizations for healthcare work, including hepatitis B and tuberculosis screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- EEG experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of neurology medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology
- Familiarity with healthcare systems, regulations, policies, and functions
- Understanding of documentation standards
- Knowledge of EEG equipment, supplies, and materials needed for medical treatment
- Understanding of EEG procedures, including preparation and screening
- Knowledge of infectious disease management, infection control, and safety standards
- Skill in reading and following written and oral medical orders
- Skill in initiating appropriate basic first aid
- Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
Additional Information:
This role is considered patient facing and is part of Humana's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB.
Scheduled Weekly Hours
20 Pay Range The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$53,100 - $72,500 per year
