Job Description

Position Summary Insight Global is seeking a Project Development Engineer for a leading distributed energy and power infrastructure organization. This engineer will function in a unique hybrid role that combines technical engineering expertise with customer-facing business engagement. The team sits between product manufacturing and EPC operations, helping customers develop power distribution solutions focused on solar, battery energy storage systems, generators, switchgear, and critical infrastructure projects.

This position is ideal for a consultative engineer who enjoys interacting directly with customers, supporting sales efforts, and developing technical solutions rather than performing detailed equipment design work. More than 50% of the role involves customer engagement, making it a strong fit for candidates with a project engineer, sales engineer, consulting engineer, or application engineer background. Engineers will support major national accounts and data center initiatives while partnering closely with internal sales, manufacturing, and engineering stakeholders to bring projects from initial concept through execution. The role offers full remote flexibility, exposure to high-profile infrastructure projects, and the opportunity to influence strategic customer solutions in a rapidly growing market.

Day-to-day:

  • Act as the technical liaison between customers, sales teams, and engineering groups throughout project development and execution
  • Support pre-sales activities including scoping, costing, technical application reviews, and proposal development
  • Develop concept drawings, one-line diagrams, and site layouts using CAD tools
  • Meet directly with customers to understand project needs and design intent
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and sales teams on distributed infrastructure solutions
  • Support projects post-sale as a technical resource and project team member
  • Review project specifications and determine scope, schedule, risk, and technical requirements
  • Lead customer meetings and presentations
  • Balance multiple opportunities and projects simultaneously
