Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.

Purpose

The Operations Lead is responsible for supervising shop personnel and advancing the quality, capacity, and capability of manufacturing operations within the Raynham SPRINT Center. This role ensures that all shop functions are aligned with business objectives and provides leadership and support for new initiatives.

This highly visible position offers opportunity to interact with multiple business units and directly impacts patients and surgeons. The Operations Lead also plays a key role in shaping shop strategy, driving strategic initiatives, and supporting long-range planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all SPRINT Center Raynham shop operations across multiple shifts.
  • Coordinate shop workload to optimize resource utilization and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all shop activities comply with the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Apply critical thinking and sound judgment to resolve complex manufacturing and engineering challenges.
  • Foster a highly collaborative team environment within the department and across functional groups.
  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to direct reports while reinforcing culture of development, performance and inclusion.
  • Contribute to shop initiatives and other projects as assigned.
  • Deliver strong results across all key performance metrics.
  • Identify, implement, and monitor business process improvements to enhance operational performance.

Education

  • Technical High School Graduate or Equivalent

Required

Experience and Skills

  • 6 to 8 years of direct experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold safety, quality, and compliance standards while working effectively in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to influence manufacturing associates, establish consistent operating practices, and adapt to changing workload demands.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to improve business and operational outcomes.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred

  • Experience in a medical device field or other regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of capacity planning, financial competence and a basic understanding of lean manufacturing technologies preferred
  • Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Direct experience programming and/or operating CNC manufacturing equipment, including Mills, Lathes, Wire EDM’s or equivalent.
