Buyer II

Location: Memphis, TN 38118

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Contract assignment: Start Date: October 1, 2026-August 4, 2029

Payrate: $34.39-61.92 an hour

Drive Smarter Sourcing. Build Stronger Supply Chains.

We’re looking for a Buyer II professional to join our team in Memphis, Tennessee. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in ensuring materials supply meets business demand while helping optimize cost, supplier performance, quality, and overall supply chain efficiency.

As a Buyer II, you’ll work closely with suppliers, Materials Planners, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing leadership, customers, and internal teams to make strategic sourcing decisions and deliver solutions that support business goals.

What You’ll Do

Supply Chain & Sourcing Strategy

  • Manage MRP activities to help ensure materials supply aligns with demand.

  • Develop supply base and Supply Chain strategies tailored to customer and Business Unit requirements.

  • Partner with Purchasing Management and Supply Chain Management to determine the best approach for meeting customer needs.

  • Support customer requirements using standard processes where possible and customized solutions when needed.

  • Help influence customer supply chain strategies to leverage capabilities and preferred sourcing strategies.

  • Support and contribute to continuous improvement of Supply Chain Management initiatives.

Supplier Management

  • Communicate expectations, requirements, and performance standards to suppliers.

  • Conduct supplier audits, visits, certifications, and performance reviews.

  • Monitor supplier delivery, quality, service, and overall performance in partnership with Materials Planners.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen and continuously improve the supply base.

  • Collaborate with Materials Planners to ensure suppliers effectively support overall business needs.

Cost Management & Negotiation

  • Quote new and existing materials and collaborate with Materials Quotation Analysts when applicable.

  • Regularly re-quote materials and negotiate pricing to identify cost-reduction opportunities.

  • Make sourcing decisions based on total cost and business value, including:

  • Price

  • Duties

  • Freight

  • Flexibility

  • Service

  • Performance

  • Quality

  • Terms and conditions

  • Negotiate commercial terms that protect the interests and its customers.

  • Negotiate liability terms, special stocking arrangements, and other agreements outside standard terms and conditions.

  • Ensure execution of negotiated pricing and terms agreements, including Worldwide Purchasing Agreements.

Materials & Financial Analysis

  • Analyze and project component purchase prices to accurately reflect inventory values during the Standard Costing process.

  • Provide input to establish competitive quoted costs while maximizing Materials Price Variance (MPV).

  • Continuously optimize MPV by reducing material costs and limiting unfavorable PPV/MPV.

  • Work with Business Unit Management to obtain customer authorization for additional expenses, including material premiums, freight, and tooling charges.

Continuous Improvement

  • Work with internal teams and customers to identify opportunities to add preferred and strategic suppliers to customers’ Approved Manufacturer Lists (AMLs).

  • Monitor supplier performance and provide feedback to drive continuous improvement.

  • Support initiatives that improve sourcing options, cost, quality, delivery, and supply chain performance.

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts involving discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and other business calculations.

  • Understanding of basic algebra and geometry concepts.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and groups.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Windows-based operating systems and related software.

  • Advanced PC skills and the ability to learn and use company-specific software applications.

  • Ability to prepare basic business correspondence and understand visual aids.

  • Ability to follow established procedures and standardized processes.

  • Ability to read and understand instructions, correspondence, and business communications.

  • Strong numerical skills, including the ability to work with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages and interpret graphs.
