Description

We are looking for an experienced Controller with prior experience with Vista by Viewpoint to join a large construction organization. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who can strengthen core accounting operations by refining general ledger activities, formalizing procedures, and improving reporting processes. The role will work closely with finance and accounting leadership to bring greater consistency, control, and efficiency to day-to-day operations while supporting scalable best practices across the function.

Responsibilities:

  • Create clear, end-to-end operating procedures for general ledger activities, journal entry workflows, and related accounting tasks.

  • Assess existing accounting processes to document current workflows, uncover inefficiencies, and recommend practical improvements.

  • Establish standardized approaches for journal entry preparation, review, approval, and posting to support accuracy and control.

  • Organize and document month-end close activities and other core accounting routines to improve consistency across the team.

  • Collaborate with accounting and finance leaders to strengthen operational alignment, reporting quality, and process reliability.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline manual work through better system usage, process redesign, and automation within the accounting function.

  • Use Vista by Viewpoint to enhance financial and operational reporting, including the development and refinement of useful reports.

  • Provide support for report customization and help end users understand newly developed reporting tools and procedures.

  • Recommend stronger internal control practices and documentation standards to support a well-governed accounting environment.

  • Drive knowledge transfer efforts so teams can successfully adopt updated processes, documentation, and reporting methods.

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities at the Accounting Manager or Senior Accounting Manager level.

  • Strong command of general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.

  • Demonstrated ability to build SOPs, process maps, and detailed accounting documentation for operational teams.

  • Experience improving accounting workflows and identifying opportunities for efficiency gains or automation.

  • Hands-on proficiency with Vista by Viewpoint, including report creation, customization, and analysis.

  • Background in construction accounting is strongly preferred.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to partner across accounting, finance, and operational teams.
