Information Security Architect (Azure)

Job Description

Our client is seeking a senior-level Information Security Architect to support a large-scale Azure cloud initiative. This position was historically focused on AWS, but the organization is actively moving workloads to Azure and building out its Azure environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep Azure architecture expertise, experience working in larger scale Azure environments, and a background in transitioning environments from AWS to Azure. This individual will serve as the primary Azure security architecture resource and provide technical leadership, guidance, and architectural direction for Azure-based initiatives. Responsibilities

• Lead Azure architecture – build out the environment and provide build-out and workflow guidance
• Design and establish security frameworks, standards, and guardrails within Azure
• Provide architectural guidance for Azure infrastructure, storage, compute, and cloud services
• Support ongoing migration efforts from AWS to Azure
• Collaborate with networking, server, IAM, and security operations teams
• Help mature and expand the organization's Azure environment
• Ensure cloud deployments align with security best practices and enterprise standards
• Advise engineering teams on secure cloud architecture patterns and governance
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation for cloud/security-related incidents (once every 20 weeks for a week at a time, approximately 3 hours of extra support)

Skills and Requirements

• Extensive Azure architecture experience at the Architect level
• 7+ years of IT experience and 5+ years of Information Security experience
• 1-2+ years of AWS experience
• Experience building, securing, and scaling Azure environments
• Hands-on experience developing Azure governance, frameworks, and security guardrails
• Experience in large enterprise environments
• Ability to mentor and influence technical teams without direct management responsibility
• Active architect-level security certification such as CISSP or equivalent
• Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments
• Experience supporting cloud transition initiatives
• Experience within highly regulated environments
• Familiarity with Microsoft cloud security tooling
