Job Description
We are seeking a cleared Engineering Technician to support mechanical assembly, environmental testing, and electrical integration activities for complex defense and aerospace systems. This position requires an active Secret security clearance and supports critical hardware through various stages of assembly, test, troubleshooting, and validation.
This role operates on a rotating shift schedule between 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM, Monday through Friday on a 9/80 schedule. The Engineering Technician will work closely with engineers, manufacturing personnel, and test teams to build, modify, test, and troubleshoot hardware while ensuring compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
Responsibilities include performing mechanical assembly of components and systems, supporting environmental testing activities such as vibration, thermal, altitude, and shock testing, and completing electrical work including cable assembly, harness installation, wiring, connector termination, and troubleshooting. The technician will interpret engineering drawings, schematics, test procedures, and work instructions to support both development and production programs.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, experience working in a regulated aerospace, defense, or manufacturing environment, and the ability to effectively troubleshoot hardware issues while maintaining strict quality and configuration control standards. Success in this role requires attention to detail, adaptability to rotating schedules, and the ability to support mission-critical programs in a secure environment.
Skills and Requirements
Active Secret Security Clearance with the ability to maintain clearance requirements. 4+ years of experience as an Engineering Technician, Test Technician, Electronics Technician, Manufacturing Technician, or similar technical role. Experience performing mechanical assembly of components, subassemblies, and systems using engineering drawings and work instructions. Experience supporting environmental testing activities such as vibration, thermal, shock, humidity, altitude, or qualification testing. Experience with electrical assembly including wiring, cable/harness installation, connector termination, and troubleshooting. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and test procedures. Experience using electrical test equipment such as multimeters, power supplies, and continuity testers. Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues. Ability to support rotating shifts between days and nights in a production or test environment. High School Diploma or GED. Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field. Aerospace, defense, military, or government program experience. Experience supporting environmental test labs or qualification testing programs. Familiarity with vibration tables, thermal chambers, shock testing, and data acquisition systems. Experience with prototype development, hardware integration, or system-level testing. IPC certifications (IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001). Experience with soldering, cable assembly, and wire harness fabrication. Knowledge of configuration management and controlled manufacturing environments. Experience documenting test results, discrepancies, and corrective actions. Active Top Secret Clearance or eligibility to upgrade clearance.
