Full job description

Are you a customer-focused professional who enjoys building relationships, processing orders, and providing exceptional service?

We are seeking a Customer Service Representative to join a growing, team-oriented organization in Northbrook, IL. This position combines customer service, order management, and front desk responsibilities in a professional office environment.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the first point of contact by answering incoming calls and directing inquiries to the appropriate department.

  • Process customer orders accurately and efficiently while providing order status updates and expediting requests when necessary.

  • Maintain customer records, pricing information, and product data within company systems.

  • Communicate with customers via phone and email regarding orders, shipments, delays, and backorders.

  • Follow up on shipping discrepancies, missing documentation, and order-related inquiries.

  • Notify customers of delayed orders and provide timely updates.

  • Welcome visitors, assist with check-in procedures, and support front desk operations.

  • Perform data entry, filing, and general administrative support tasks.

  • Collaborate with sales, operations, management, and other departments to ensure excellent customer service.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional customer service experience within a manufacturing, distribution, or retail environment.

  • Previous order entry experience utilizing an ERP system.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and customer focused.

Preferred

  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar ERP platforms.

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree.

  • Bilingual Spanish skills.

Work Environment

  • Professional corporate office setting.

  • Front desk position requiring frequent interaction with customers and visitors.

  • Monday through Friday schedule.

  • Hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM with a one-hour lunch.

  • Fully onsite role.

  • Employees should be comfortable working in an environment where food flavor and fragrance samples may be present.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northbrook, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
