Position Purpose

Responsible for providing advanced analytical, regulatory and accounting advisory and transaction support services for corporate finance functions.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Provides expert level support related to TVA’s short and long-duration finance transactions, including liquidity management and planning activities, transaction administration support, and/or related accounting processes.

  • Provides and reviews financing documentation such as bond confirmation letters and reconciles and maintains bond discount subsidiaries to the general ledger, and various debt and interest related general ledger accounts to subsidiary ledgers.

  • Prepares documentation to initiate payments of financing instruments such as interest and principal payments. Verifies interest reporting from third-party custodians against TVA financial system. Assists in preparing miscellaneous journal vouchers including, but not limited to interest expense accrual, interest income accruals, reacquisition expense, bond discount amortization, bond reclassifications, allowance for funds used during construction, etc.

  • Coordinates complex analytical projects and analysis in support of financing functions, proposals and transactions, and maintaining all necessary analytical systems, models, and information sources. Coordinates with assigned staff and stakeholders in developing financing recommendations to senior management.

  • Leads or supports the evaluation and execution of financing transactions including alternative sources of capital, analyzes special projects and proposals for opportunities that best meet TVA's goals.

  • Responsible for supporting the accounting and SEC disclosure of Treasury-related derivatives and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and documentation. Consults with Corporate Accounting to determine impact of new accounting pronouncements and the accounting for new financing transactions.

  • Provides information and support for external reporting and auditing processes related to financing program transactions.

  • May assist in the negotiation of ISDA and CSA agreements and coordinates with Corporate Credit and OGC representatives.

  • May coordinate or provide analytical support for Enterprise Risk Management processes and related reporting.

  • Supports the analysis and assessment of business systems and processes, working with IT and other organizations to coordinate planning and implementation of Treasury financial information systems.

Minimum Requirements

Education. – A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or Accounting, or equivalent education, training and work experience is required. An advanced business degree is preferred.

Experience. – Eight years of professional experience with advanced concepts in accounting, finance, business analytics, economics, or utility regulatory requirements.

Certification/License, etc— Professional financial certification (CFA, CPA), or equivalent experience, is strongly desirable.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities—. Must possess demonstrated knowledge of securities markets, derivatives transactions, and financial industry practices, procedures and regulations. Strong oral and written communications skills required. Strong information technology skills are desirable.
