We have an exciting opportunity for­ a Principal Specialist, Contracts within the Naval Power Strategic Business Unit (SBU). This role will support the preparation and submission of various proposals for new business including spares, repairs, modernization, across multiple customers, as well as closely partner with functional program team members to understand, guide and support performance of contractual requirements.

What You Will Do

  • Work closely with the Portfolio Directors, Program Managers, Chief Engineers, Finance, and Supply Chain to manage successful execution of contracts

  • Identify, mitigate, and drive resolution of contractual issues as they may arise.

  • Ensure that negotiated terms and conditions comply with company policies

  • Provide guidance regarding contractual and business issues, rights and obligations, and possible mitigation of contractual and programmatic risks

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and internal partners

  • Interface with customers for correspondence, contractual changes, and contractual issues

  • Some domestic travel (approximately 15%)

What You Will Learn

  • Contracting with a U.S. Government customer via traditional and non-traditional contract vehicles

  • Take an active role in managing contracts and engaging directly with program leadership

  • Development and Obsolescence focused contracts to meet domestic, Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Subcontractor requirements

  • Business management reviews with leadership support such as quarterly Estimate At Completion (EAC) Reviews

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience

  • Experience with one or more of the following: contracts administration, program management, business management, finance, procurement and / or supply chain

  • Experience with U.S. Government contracts to include proposal activity

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Wide experience in contracts negotiations, execution and administration of various contracts aspects (including price, Statements of Work, terms, etc.), and agreements such as Proprietary Information Agreements

  • Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplemental (DFARS) requirements

  • Experience applying analysis and critical thinking for complex problem solving

  • Understanding of financial aspects of contracts and risk quantification

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
