Summary This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Clinical Standards and Quality (CCSQ), Information Security Staff (ISS) Information Systems Group (ISG). As a IT Specialist (Security), GS-2210-13, you will analyze and implement awareness of enterprise-wide HHS information technology security or system development life cycle policies and standards. Responsibilities Develop and monitor progress against a program plan, which identifies program milestones and associated tasking and timeframes. Provide technical direction, instructions, and guidance to task team members as well as mentors lower graded staff their development. Develop and execute strategies for developing system development quality assurance (QA) program management office. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues; and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. -AND - In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: Providing technical guidance in the development and/or implementation of Information Technology (IT) security programs and/or systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
