Job Description

The Project Manager serves as the senior project leader responsible for the planning, execution, and successful deployment of Epic across multiple occupational health clinics and ambulatory practice locations throughout South Carolina. This individual will lead a highly visible, enterprise-wide implementation initiative involving clinical, operational, technical, and executive stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings deep experience managing Epic implementation projects within occupational health, ambulatory care, employee health, workers' compensation, or employer-based health environments. This role will oversee all phases of implementation, including operational readiness, workflow design, system deployment, testing, training, change management, activation, and post-go-live stabilization across numerous clinic locations. This position acts as a strategic partner to system leadership, occupational health leaders, Information Solutions teams, Epic application teams, and clinic stakeholders to ensure standardized workflows, successful adoption, and long-term operational success.

Epic Implementation Leadership

  • Lead the enterprise implementation of Epic across multiple occupational health and employer health clinic locations.

  • Direct project planning, execution, governance, and program oversight from project initiation through post-go-live stabilization.

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, milestones, resource plans, RAID logs, and executive status reporting.

  • Coordinate Epic application teams, operational leaders, clinical stakeholders, vendors, and third-party partners throughout the implementation lifecycle.

  • Facilitate steering committee meetings, executive reviews, governance forums, risk discussions, and decision-making sessions.

  • Manage interdependent workstreams including: o Workflow design and validation o System build coordination o Interface and integration activities o Data conversion and migration o Testing and quality assurance o Training and adoption o Cutover planning and activation Occupational Health Operations & Workflow Design

  • Partner with occupational health leaders, clinicians, front-office staff, and operational stakeholders to assess current-state workflows and design future-state Epic workflows.

  • Ensure Epic workflows support occupational medicine services including: o Pre-employment and post-offer screenings o Workers' compensation management o Employer health services o Drug and alcohol screening programs o DOT physicals o Injury management o Case management activities o Regulatory compliance documentation

  • Serve as a bridge between operational requirements and Epic system functionality to ensure successful workflow alignment and adoption.

  • Drive standardization of occupational health processes across multiple clinics and facilities. Multi-Site Deployment & Operational Readiness

  • Lead implementation activities across numerous clinic locations and facilities throughout South Carolina.

  • Coordinate site readiness activities, activation schedules, and phased deployment strategies.

  • Oversee operational readiness planning including: o Hardware deployment o End-user device readiness o Printer and peripheral setup o Identity and access management o Infrastructure coordination o Facility activation planning

  • Ensure each site achieves readiness milestones prior to go-live. Change Management & Training

  • Develop and execute comprehensive change management and communication strategies.

  • Partner with operational leaders to prepare staff for workflow and technology changes.

  • Coordinate super-user programs, training readiness efforts, and end-user adoption initiatives.

  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and organizational alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Lead command center planning, go-live support, issue escalation, and hypercare activities. Executive Communication & Governance

  • Serve as the primary liaison between operational leadership, Information Solutions, Epic teams, and executive sponsors.

  • Provide regular executive-level reporting on project progress, risks, financials, dependencies, and critical milestones.

  • Facilitate issue resolution and strategic decision-making sessions.

  • Identify enterprise-level risks and barriers to successful implementation and recommend mitigation strategies. Continuous Improvement & Post-Go-Live Support

  • Lead post-implementation reviews, lessons learned sessions, and benefit realization assessments.

  • Monitor adoption metrics, operational outcomes, and key performance indicators.

  • Partner with operational and clinical leaders to identify optimization opportunities following implementation.

  • Ensure a smooth transition from implementation to ongoing operational support.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive healthcare project management experience leading large-scale technology or operational initiatives.
  • 3+ year of Epic implementation project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-site ambulatory, occupational health, employee health, or community-based healthcare implementations.
  • Experience leading full Epic lifecycle implementations including planning, workflow design, testing, training, cutover, go-live, and stabilization.
  • Strong understanding of occupational health operations, employer health programs, workers' compensation processes, and ambulatory clinical workflows.
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional teams involving clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience presenting to executive sponsors, steering committees, and senior leadership.
  • PMP, PgMP, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent project management certification.
  • Epic implementation, Community Connect, or ambulatory deployment experience.
  • Experience implementing Epic across multiple clinics or geographically dispersed facilities.
  • Experience within academic medical centers, integrated health systems, or large healthcare organizations.
  • Familiarity with change management frameworks and organizational readiness methodologies.
  • Knowledge of South Carolina healthcare operations and occupational medicine services.
