Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that prosthetic durable medical equipment is distributed to areas for Prosthetics. Provides for clinics, prosthetic storage locations, offsite contract warehouse, offsite home oxygen warehouse and other hospital facility with prosthetic durable medical equipment.
Duties
Major duties Includes but are not limited to: Maintains stock at inventory locations for all prosthetics clinical and administrative services. Pulling stock inventory from main inventory for delivery; replenishing stock inventory: Interacting with clinical and administrative staff to ensure issues and needs are identified and needs are identified and either resolved or escalated to supervisors. Processes supply transactions such as receipt, shipment, and/or adjustment documents. Generates 2237s for purchase orders with minimal supervision for purchasing durable medical equipment against already established contracts and open market vendors. Maintains accurate records of transactions and completes all adjustments to computerized system to ensure final payment to vendor is certified. Receives supplies and material into the VA health Care system and supported catchment area. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/29/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04.The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized experience: Examples of specialized experience would typically include but not limited to: Examples of specialized experience would generally include, but are not limited to: managing inventory levels at designated stock locations for all prosthetics clinical and administrative services in accordance with established guidelines; utilizing inventory management systems to track and manage supplies; retrieving stock items, delivering supplies, replenishing inventory, reconciling discrepancies between inventory records and physical counts, and documenting each stock issue on the Prosthetic 2319 record; processing supply transactions such as receipts, shipments, and adjustments, unpacking and uncrating supplies and materials from shipping containers, preparing equipment, and shipping supplies directly to patients; and interacting with clinical and administrative staff as needed. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university .NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR, Combination of Experience & Education: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school education as described above that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Customer Service Flexibility Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Reading Comprehension Reasoning Teamwork Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages(occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies(weighing in excess of 100+ pounds). With proper assistance, moves heavier items' weighing over 40 pounds.
