Full job description

Facility: Mercy Hospital of Buffalo

Shift: Shift 1

Status: Part Time w/Benefits FTE: 0.400000

Bargaining Unit: ACE Associates

Exempt from Overtime: Exempt: Yes

Work Schedule: Days with Weekend and Holiday Rotation

Hours: Variable start and end times

Summary:

Collaborates with members of the health care team to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and nutrition education to patients. Identifies patients at nutrition risk and assesses nutrient requirements according to age and disease specific needs. Develops and implements nutrition care plans for all assigned patients. Continuously evaluates and monitors the effectiveness and outcomes of MNT intervention.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

  • BS Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics plus internship or other education to meet requirements for registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

  • Registration with the CDR

  • Registered Dietitian or registration eligible. Registration must be obtained within 6 months of employment

  • Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist (CDN) with New York State to obtained within 1 st year of employment

  • Active membership with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • 1 year experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Must possess or have ability to learn basic computer skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Occasional exposure to one or more mildly unpleasant physical conditions

  • Travel between Catholic Health System facilities may be required

  • Occasional evenings may be required for nutrition counseling appointments or classes
