Full job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Safety Compliance and Audit Advisor is responsible for MidAmerican Energy’s compliance with all safety specific regulatory, legal and company policy requirements. This is completed through facility and work site internal mock OSHA assessments, incident investigations and root cause analysis, supporting the maintenance of MidAmerican Energy’s safety programs, safety data analysis collected through the 1st Reporting application and regulatory reporting requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop, implement, and continuously improve the facility and field internal mock OSHA assessment program including site visits, documentation of deficiencies, planned remediation schedules and completion follow up inspections (40%)

Complete all safety incident investigations for personal injuries, motor vehicle accidents and contractor incidents including root cause analysis and after-action items (30%)

Support the Program Manager, Safety Compliance with the maintenance of MidAmerican Energy’s safety programs ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, federal and regulatory requirements (15%)

Perform analysis on data collected through 1st Reporting’s job safety analysis, driver job safety analysis, good catch, near miss, operational incident and contractor incident forms to identify potential risks and develop and implement mitigation strategies (10%)

Perform additional duties as assigned (0-5%)

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in business administration, safety management or related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

Eight years of related experience; prefer at least four years of related safety experience.

Basic leadership skills to provide instruction, orientation, guidance and direction.

Communication skills to transmit information accurately and understandably in both written and verbal formats and communicates effectively in-group settings.

Short-term/project management planning skills to plan work-flow, coordinate projects and resolve conflicting demands.

Demonstrated auditing skills.

Administrative skills to follow company standards and policies.

Interpretation skills to determine compliance with new and existing safety regulations.

Prefer certificate in areas of training and/or safety.

Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently.
