Full job description

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of mechanical equipment and piping systems in an industrial or R&D environment. This individual will work directly with piping, tubing, valves, fittings, pumps, mechanical assemblies, and related equipment, with a strong emphasis on identifying leaks, troubleshooting leak sources, and implementing leak-prevention solutions. Responsibilities will include assembling and modifying piping and tubing systems, installing and replacing valves and fittings, performing leak checks, troubleshooting mechanical issues, conducting preventive maintenance, supporting equipment installation and repairs, and working from mechanical drawings, schematics, and written procedures. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable working with their hands, and has experience diagnosing problems in piping or fluid systems rather than simply performing routine maintenance. This person should be able to identify potential failure points, determine the cause of leaks or equipment issues, and make the appropriate mechanical repairs or modifications to improve system reliability. Salary will range from 70-85K. On0site 5 days a week

Skills and Requirements

3+ years of hands-on mechanical technician, maintenance technician, millwright, pipefitting, or similar industrial experience Hands-on experience working with piping, tubing, valves, fittings, flanges, pumps, and mechanical assemblies Experience identifying, troubleshooting, and repairing leaks in piping or fluid systems Understanding of common leak points and methods used to prevent recurring leaks Experience assembling, installing, repairing, and modifying mechanical systems Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and general mechanical maintenance equipment Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance Ability to read and work from mechanical drawings, schematics, equipment documentation, and procedures Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently and determine the root cause of mechanical problems Comfortable working in a hands-on industrial, laboratory, manufacturing, or R&D environment Navy Nuke ELT/MM background Experience with stainless steel piping or tubing systems Experience with compression fittings, threaded connections, flanged connections, gaskets, seals, and valves Experience performing pressure or leak testing of assembled systems Experience with gas, compressed air, water, coolant, vacuum, hydraulic, or other process systems Experience installing or maintaining pumps, regulators, gauges, instrumentation, and related mechanical components Experience fabricating or modifying piping/tubing systems Welding, brazing, tube bending, or pipefitting experience Experience supporting prototype, test, R&D, nuclear, aerospace, chemical processing, or advanced manufacturing environments OSHA or other industrial safety training
