INTERNAL POSTING - LE Major (Hunter Education & Media/PIO)

This officer will be responsible for helping to oversee SCDNR Law Enforcement Division's Hunter/Boater Education Programs and serve as the Law Enforcement Media/PIO liaison.

Job Duties Include: • Providing day-to-day leadership, administration, and supervision of the division's education and outreach programs, including Hunter Education, Boater Education, Take One Make One and SCDNR Shooting Ranges.

• Developing and maintaining productive relationships with individuals and organizations whose interests intersect with SCDNR Law Enforcement programs and responsibilities.
• Working directly with the Colonel as the division's PIO, monitoring emerging issues, stakeholder concerns, and public information needs related to conservation law enforcement, boating, hunting, shooting sports, outdoor recreation, and SCDNR education programs.
• Assisting executive leadership in developing appropriate outreach strategies for emerging and sensitive issues.
• Ensuring communications are accurate, timely, professional, and consistent with SCDNR policy and applicable laws.
• Overseeing projects that fall under the State Fiscal Accountability Authority (SFAA), Joint Bond Review Committee (JBRC). and Comprehensive Permanent Improvement Plan (CPIP) process.
• Providing effective management and accountability for equipment, instructional materials, vehicles, firearms-related training resources, technology, and other assets assigned to education and outreach programs.
• Assisting with the agency's strategic planning process and goals.
• Serving as the Law Enforcement Division liaison for the Agency Accident Review Panel and the FBI Task Force.

A bachelor's degree and three (3) years of SCDNR Class 1 law enforcement supervisory experience, preferably in natural resources (wildlife) enforcement. Related law enforcement experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-to-year basis.Ability to develop and manage budgets. Above average written and oral communication abilities, planning and supervisory experience. Knowledgeable of SC game, fish and boating laws.
