Description

The Personnel Cabinet’s mission is to provide leadership and guidance to attract, develop, motivate and retain a talented, diverse workforce that provides outstanding service to state agencies and citizens of the Commonwealth; foster an understanding of and adherence to legal requirements; and create a positive and inclusive work environment that supports the holistic well-being of all employees.

The Cabinet’s Division of Career Opportunities is responsible for operating a centralized applicant and employee certification program as well as coordinating outreach programs such as recruitment. The Division is seeking an Administrative Specialist who will provide professional support to management and staff within the Division. The selected applicant will be self-motivated, dependable, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversight and importing of various documentation to a centralized document storage database.

  • Assist with posting register job advertisements.

  • Provide support in the review of applicant applications for specific job classifications.

  • Track data and monitor trending analysis.

  • Assist with recruitment efforts by attending career fairs.

  • Draft communications and create reports.

Preferred skills and abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Proficient computer, Outlook, and Microsoft skills including Excel.

  • Excellent customer service and phone skills.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:One year of professional, administrative, or business experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):NONE

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
