Full job description
Lead the gathering, documentation, and transformation of business requirements as well as the specification, design, implementation, testing and release of electronic tools to create natively developed software that enables the service, diagnosis, and repair of alternative energy products in Cummins Inc’s drive to net zero. Investigate highly specialized electronic tools problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, own problem resolution, and document results. Create, manage, and apply the improvement of electronic tools development processes and tools including Electronic Tools Product Line (ETPL) common workflow, 7 step problem solving, and application product development (requirements, design, development test, support). Obtain input and negotiate with product and software development teams and deliver verified software features, components, and builds to product teams. Utilize specialized systems knowledge and expertise to make key business decisions in the areas of software requirements, architecture, design, and tests that impact tool product line integration and direction. Provide problem resolution leadership for complex systems with a high degree of ambiguity and often global business impact. Lead the development and improvement of work processes and systems across functions using experience with software lifecycle tools, requirements management, and configuration/change management. Mitigate potential product failure modes by identifying interfaces, functions, functional requirements, interactions, control factors, noise factors, and prioritizing potential failure modes and potential failure causes for the system of interest to improve the reliability of Cummins’ products. Utilize computer and software engineering principles to integrate market and key customer needs of a given product platform into a development plan. Utilize Systems Requirements Engineering methods and tools to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements to which designs are developed. Establish acceptance criteria for the system of interest through analysis, allocation, and negotiation, and track the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle. Assess the impact of changes to system requirements on project scope, schedule, and resources, and create and maintain information linkages to related artifacts.
Positions require a Master’s degree in Electrical, Computer or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related field and 3 years of experience as a Software, Systems, or Electronics Engineer or Specialist, Solution Architect or related position.
