SUMMARY:

Utilizes the principles of management, philosophies, policies and goals of the institution and nursing department to ensure consistent, high quality patient care.

Assumes administrative responsibility to maintain smooth, efficient hospital functions.
-
Utilizes the principles of the nursing process to provide for continuity and quality of nursing care administered to a specific group ofneonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the age of the patient served on the nursing unit or by patient care departments.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
-
Requires basic knowledge of nursing.
-
Graduate from accredited nursing program.

Preferred BA, BS or BBA with a major in nursing, health care administration, business administration, or psychology.
Experience:
- Aminimum of five years of experience in Staff Nurse with Charge Nurse or Assistant Nursing Manager role to acquire skills and knowledge of the jobis preferred.
License:
-
CurrentNew YorkStateR.N. license.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL FACTORS:
*Physical:*Requires prolonged standing, walking, or other constant physical movements on a routine basis and frequent lifting of moderately heavy items, i.e., 20-40 lbs.
*Mental:*Nature of work frequently requires considerable or heavy workload, highly irregular, and unpredictable long hours, placing heavy demands on home and/or social life; and there may be considerable work pressures requiring delicate or potentially serious matters.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Occasional exposure to occupational hazards or contagious disease which requires routine precautions.
Working Conditions:
Manual: Little or no manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
Occupational: Little or no potential for occupational risk
Physical Effort: Sedentary/light effort. May exert up to 10 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions
