The Alaska Court System is seeking dependable, organized, and community-minded individuals to serve as Bailiffs—an important role that supports the court’s mission of providing fair, timely, and efficient justice.

As a bailiff, you will be responsible for escorting jurors in and out of the courtroom before, during, and after trials. You’ll help maintain the integrity of the deliberation process by ensuring that jurors are not contacted or influenced by outside parties. In addition, you will assist with coordinating meals, lodging, and transportation for jurors when necessary, and you’ll accompany them to meals and provide support for basic, personal errands as needed. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of the judicial process in a respectful, structured environment. The Schedule These positions are on-call and temporary, and may work multiple days in a row. The applicant may be called in for as little as two hours or up to eight hours a day. There may be gaps of a week or two without a shift. Alternatively, you may be called back for consecutive-day coverage.

Graduation from high school graduation or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND six months of responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to deal tactfully with the public. EDUCATION If post-secondary education is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications, you must fill in the Education and Training section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of credit hours earned in the Degree Obtained field. Copies of academic transcripts will be required at time of interview.

SELECTION PROCEDURE Applicants will be required to meet the Minimum Qualifications as outlined above. Unfortunately, we cannot always interview all applicants. If your application is considered "not qualified," you will be sent a notice within two weeks after the closing date for this recruitment. If you believe your application was improperly disqualified, you may appeal this decision to the Human Resources Director at 820 West 4th Avenue, Anchorage, AK 99501-2005 within five workdays from the date the notice is mailed to you.
