Akron General's 7100 unit is a high acuity cardiac telemetry and med/surg unit. This fast-paced unit cares for patients who require extensive ADL assistance, high-risk fall patients and patients with pneumonia, FTT, weakness, confusion, sepsis, PEG care, central lines, multiple antibiotic therapies, blood transfusions, IV push/cardiac drip titration medications and tracheostomies. The unit typically carries 23-28 high risk fall patients. As an RN on the team, you will utilize your nursing skills to enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience and the lives of patients and their families. You will gain hands-on experience in complex medical concerns and technologies, providing an unmatched advantage within the healthcare industry.

A PRN caregiver in this position works varying days and hours. Working a minimum of 48 hours per 6-week period will be required.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide direct nursing care.
-
Implement and monitor patient care plans.
-
Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
-
Monitor, record and communicate patients' conditions.
-
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
-
Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.
-
Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
-
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
-
External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience
-
Internal applicants: less than two years of experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer approval for internal applicants
-
Will consider licensed military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements:
-
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
-
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
-
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
-
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
-
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
-
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $43.00
Maximum hourly: $43.00
The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
