Responsibilities:

  • Administer and optimize OpenShift Virtualization Engine (OVE) clusters and virtualized infrastructure.
  • Provision, support, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux virtual machines throughout their lifecycle.
  • Manage Portworx Enterprise storage, including provisioning, replication, backups, and capacity planning.
  • Execute and validate backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes and testing.
  • Monitor platform health, performance, and availability across compute, storage, and networking layers.
  • Support VM and storage migrations from VMware and other hypervisor platforms to OVE.
  • Develop VM templates, automation, standards, and documentation to improve operational efficiency.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve incidents and enhance platform reliability and resiliency.

Day-to-day: One of Insights Global's clients is looking for an OpenShift Virtualization Engineer to come join their team. This individual will be responsible for the administration, support, and optimization of Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Engine (OVE) environments. That host enterprise Windows and Linux virtual machine workloads. They will manage the full virtual machine lifecycle, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and decommissioning, while ensuring platform stability, performance, and availability. They will also serve as the primary owner of Portworx Enterprise storage services. Supporting KubeVirt-based virtual machines through storage provisioning, replication, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations. They will monitor the health of virtualization platforms across compute, storage, networking, and operating system layers and proactively resolve issues to maintain a resilient infrastructure. Additionally, they will support workload and storage migrations from Vmware into OpenShift Virtualization environments. Finally they will be responsible for developing automation, VM templates, technical documentation, and operational standards that improve efficiency and consistency across the platform. The ideal candidate is someone who has strong expertise in enterprise virtualization, Linux administration, high availability, disaster recovery, and infrastructure automation. As well as someone who collaborates effectively with server, storage, network, security, and application teams. The target pay for this role is $70-$75hr.

Skills and Requirements

  • Experience with OpenShift Virtualization Engine
  • Hands-on experience with Red Hat, KubeVirt, or similar virtualization platforms.
  • Experience administering Portworx Enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong understanding of Linux administration and VM lifecycle management
  • Experience with server-level virtualization
  • Red Hat Certification
  • Portworx Certification
  • Degree in a related field
