Job Description

Our client is seeking a Staff SAR Payload Systems Engineer to lead the architecture, design, integration, verification, and operational success of next-generation Earth observation and remote sensing satellite payloads.

This role serves as a technical authority for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) payload systems, driving programme-wide decisions across multiple satellite missions. The successful candidate will shape future payload roadmaps, influence payload-level trade studies, guide multidisciplinary engineering teams, and act as a technical interface with customers, partners, and executive stakeholders throughout the full mission lifecycle.

The ideal candidate combines deep SAR domain expertise with exceptional systems engineering leadership and a proven track record delivering complex space-based payloads from concept through on-orbit operations.

This role will encompass tasks across the following domains:

Architecture Concept and requirements

Payload Architecture and Design

Simulation and Analysis

Cross‑Functional Coordination, Stakeholder & Program Interaction

Integration & Verification (IVV)

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

Configuration, Documentation & Standards Management

On Orbit & Operations Support

This role is open to all applicants US wide who are eligible for ITAR compliance. This is a remote position for a 12-month contract.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

10-15+ years of experience in satellite payload development, systems engineering, integration, and mission delivery.

Strong technical‑writing ability (requirements, ICDs, test procedures, risk reports) and presentation skills; comfortable interfacing with customers, suppliers and senior leadership.

Strong understanding of aerospace system engineering fundamentals.

Hands-on individual who can support systems integration processes and capability to test systems and resolve problems.

Experience with Confluence and JIRA.

Demonstrated capability to efficiently work with little supervision.

Ability to distill complex problems to fundamentals to solve with analysis, similarity, or creativity.
