GROUP/DIVISION SUMMARY

The Drug Product Division - North America (DPD-NA) is one of the five divisions that make up the Pharma Services Group. We are made up of approximately 4400 colleagues across six sites who specialize in taking sterile injectable and oral solid dose drug products from development to commercialization.

POSITION SUMMARY

The EHS Specialist II supports Safety management, emergency response support, and compliance responsibilities throughout entire site including all processes, procedures and equipment; as well as working with management, other facilities, other companies and organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Industrial Hygiene (IH) Program by assisting with site industrial hygiene testing

  • Conduct sound level testing and noise dosimetry studies

  • Support the management of IH equipment and calibrations

  • Conduct qualitative & quantitative respiratory fit testing

  • Complete risk assessments, ergonomic analysis, manual handling assessment, DSE assessments that form improvement recommendations for management to implement changes.

  • Maintain the New Substance Notification Regulation (NSNR) tracking database, and Site Chemical Inventory

  • Conducting various site health & safety audits such as guarding and lockout/tagout.

  • Develop and implement EHS Training Programs

  • Participate in leading EHS Orientation for new hires

  • Assist with the roll out of site programs related to environmental sustainability, industrial hygiene and site safety.

  • Evaluate new hazardous materials to ensure compliance in EHS requirements and facility constraints.

  • Participate in emergency response planning and evacuation planning.

  • Facilitate root cause analysis, complete accident investigations and implementation of corrective action activities.

  • Collaborate with Human Resources and health care professionals regarding reasonable adjustments for colleagues upon return to work.

  • Support the EHS Department with other related initiatives & activities.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/ GED with 4+ years of EHS experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • 1 to 2 years of Chemical, manufacturing, or pharmaceutical work experience is preferred but not required.

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

  • Familiarity with US Environment, Health & Safety Legislation & standard methodologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion through interaction with employees at all levels within the organization.

  • High integrity for dealing with confidential information.

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work alone and be a self starter.

  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time Manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 10-35 pound pounds. Arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and type for prolonged periods of time. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time. Ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, nitrile or similar gloves, safety apron, organic respirator occasionally.
