Summary
About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Fitness Center, Schriever SFB CO. This position is Regular Full Time and does include benefits Must be able to lift and carry items up to 75 pounds A valid state driver's license is required
Duties
Performs a variety of duties in support of the day to day operations of the Fitness Center. Maintains order and enforces policy, procedures and safety rules for fitness center. Types of duties include, but are not limited to: may open and ready facility for operating or close and secure facility at night. Prepares league schedules, promotes programs and maintains standings and changes. Maintains reservation system for sports courts and fields. Receives, stores, and issues towels and a variety of recreational supplies and equipment. Inventories, maintains simple inventory records, initiates actions to restock low supplies, and displays checkout items. Assigns lockers and assists with maintenance of lockers. Checks lockers rooms and restrooms for cleanliness and cleans are of gym as required. Complies with safety, fire, and facility cleanliness procedures. Provides preventive maintenance and makes minor repair and cleaning of equipment as necessary. Assists in the physical conditioning programs by demonstrating equipment, methods and procedures to be used as well as proper safety techniques. Serves as an exercise weight assistant in areas of resistance strength training and exercise. Assists in the development of individual and group exercise and weight training programs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: One year specialized experience in a fitness center. Must possess experience that provided a knowledge of a standardized body of rules, procedures and operational related to one or more indoor/outdoor recreation functions in order to perform the required activities in a fitness and sports environment. Knowledge of general office admin and clerical procedures, and automation functions to support office operations. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must have documented 75 hours of individual personal training and or group exercise leadership (CIAR or ACSM). Subject to work an uncommon tour of duty. May require physical dexterity and ability, heavy physical exertion (lifting up to 75 pounds).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Direct deposit is required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD). Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
