Description
Why This Internship
As an intern with Textron, you’ll gain hands-on experience while exploring your interests and building new skills. You’ll be supported and challenged to contribute in meaningful ways – working on real projects alongside experienced professionals to prepare for future success.
JOB SUMMARY:
Research & Development engineers, develop new products, redesign existing products, and perform research and testing on product concepts. R&D engineers work in a collaborative environment that includes other engineers, marketing professionals, and manufacturers. R&D engineers assignments are executed under the direction of the R&D Supervisor/Manager with an emphasis on meeting and/or exceeding customer requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

R&D engineers work many different software programs; such as, Catia V5, V6 and other related.

Manages the planning, development, and execution of important engineering projects.

Coordinates with both internal customers as well as multiple outside suppliers to ensure Design for Manufacturability, cost, and schedule goals are met.

Uses advanced engineering principles and problem-solving capabilities to provide technical solutions for a wide range of tasks.

Design and build prototypes of system components for testing.

Develop required test procedures and coordinate testing with other applicable groups.

Works well in a cross-functional and diverse team environment

Ability to successfully navigate through ambiguity.
-
Acts as liaison with representatives outside of the assigned group/area.

Drives improvements to daily processes and ensures all work meets or exceeds customer requirements.

Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company products and processes.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Engineering
- Industrial Design
- Other related technical field
EXPERIENCE:

Professional and diplomatic demeanor

Strong sense of accountability and integrity

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-
Time management skills to support multiple concurrent projects

Ability to deal with change and work in a dynamic environment

Proficient in use of standard Microsoft Office programs

Experience in CATIA is preferred
Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.
Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks.
Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
