Job Summary
The Cardinal Health Transportation team delivers products and services that create a differentiated experience for customers while relentlessly improving speed, reliability, and cost through supply chain optimization. We enable growth through the effective and efficient movement of over 45 million shipments annually, supporting the flow of materials and products between suppliers, manufacturers, and customers.
For suppliers, the transportation team coordinates both inbound and outbound lanes for Cardinal Health Distribution Centers. network. The 3PL Transportation team, plays a critical role in growing and managing third-party logistics services. The team is instrumental for designing logistics solutions for customers and to go after new business, and to maintain service levels that represent a highly reliable, predictable transportation network. This includes transportation cost modeling, route and location optimization, cost-to-serve analysis, and fleet equipment strategy which are pivotal for go-to-market strategies and position Cardinal Health as a trusted 3PL partner. This role will lead a team which collaborates cross-functionally with the 3PL Sales and Marketing teams, Account Management, Distribution, Systems, and Finance. Oversight of key cost savings initiatives further underscores the importance of the role, requiring direct stakeholder engagement, proactive issue resolution, and effective expectation management. This position serves as a strategic enabler of enterprise-wide transformation and performance improvement.
Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of transportation executives that oversee day-to-day operations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and people development.

Identify and assess opportunities to improve logistics capabilities and service optimization for 3PL customers.

Optimize routing, location, and carrier strategies, partnering across the broader transportation team.

Design, implement, and maintain customer solutions that delivers mutual value.

Conduct cost-to-serve and fleet equipment analysis to support strategic decisions.

Support Account Management on regular business calls to review strategies and performance.

Lead transportation cost modeling and support customer contract negotiations.

Develop and operationalize new logistics capabilities through standardized processes and procedures.

Build and maintain strong relationships across the enterprise to inform decisions and gather feedback.

Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams including Legal, Finance, Supply Chain Planning, Sales, Systems, the 3PL team and carriers to ensure alignment and successful execution of transportation initiatives.

Translate complex transportation analytics and network modeling outputs into clear, concise, and actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences, influencing key stakeholders and executive leadership.

Ensure that proposed customer solutions and optimization strategies are operationally feasible and align with real-world transportation and warehousing capabilities.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred

8+ years of experience in transportation analytics, network design, or data modeling preferred

Strong foundational knowledge of domestic transportation modes, regulations, and warehousing operations.

Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.

Advanced quantitative and analytical skills, including proficiency in statistical analysis, regression modeling, and optimization techniques.

Excellent business writing and communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Travel Expectations: 10%
Anticipated salary range : $89,000 - $139,920

The salary range listed is an estimate. Pay at Cardinal Health is determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographical location, relevant education, experience and skills and an evaluation of internal pay equity.
