Quality Engineer

Location: Mansfield, OH

Cleveland-Cliffs is currently seeking a Quality Engineer at Mansfield, OH. Under the direction of the Quality Manager , the Q uality Engineer is accountable for providing expertise in the planning and execution of technical process projects , performing metallographic testing, and dispositioning material to ensure product meets customer requirements.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Provides technical expertise to resolve departmental process issues, ensuring product quality and cost efficiency.

• Conducts research to identify alternative solutions that meet quality and cost requirements, ensuring customer satisfaction through adherence to product specifications.

• Investigates field projects to develop cost-effective solutions for technical process problems. Develops, analyzes, prepares, and executes technical process projects.

• Assists in establishing departmental quality objectives , directing CAR, PMCAR, Continuous Improvement, preventive actions, and PCE/PCR systems.

• Ensures quality assurance through inspection and disposition of products before shipment.

• Performs metallographic testing and analysis of steel products.

• Fosters effective communication with Operations and Maintenance regarding process applications related to safety, quality, and cost.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline.

• Proficient computer skills

• Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills

• Capability to work in a hot, dusty industrial environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 or more years’ experience in steel processing, steelmaking or industrial environment
