Full job description

Description

Amazon is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to own and scale our global live sports data licensing business. This is a high-visibility, end-to-end ownership role: you will drive the strategy, negotiation, and management of a growing pipeline of licensing deals with data and technology providers that power our live sports customer experience, while partnering closely with Production, Product, and Marketing to bring those deals to life. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of deal-making and operational execution — comfortable leading complex commercial negotiations one day and diving into reporting and milestone tracking the next.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own the global live sports data licensing pipeline end to end — working with partner teams to source and qualify opportunities through contract execution and ongoing account management. Develop overarching strategies to improve deal efficiencies across business lines and lower cost.

  • Lead contract negotiations with providers that supply underlying data, tools, and infrastructure powering the live sports customer experience, structuring commercial terms that balance business goals with partner needs.

  • Manage the full contract lifecycle, including renewals, amendments, compliance tracking, and risk mitigation, in partnership with Legal.

  • Build and maintain the business line's reporting cadence, including pipeline health, deal status, revenue/cost tracking, and key milestone reporting to leadership - proactively flagging risks, delays, or renegotiation needs.

  • Develop scalable processes and playbooks for deal structuring, negotiation, and pipeline management as the business line grows.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for external partners on data licensing matters, representing Amazon.

About the team

You'll have the opportunity to build and scale a global business line from the ground up, working directly with some of the biggest providers in sports while shaping how live sports data and technology powers Amazon's products and content. This is a rare chance to own a business end to end — strategy, deals, and execution — with real visibility into how your work drives impact.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • 3+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, and contract negotiation, ideally within sports, media, or data licensing

  • 3+ years of experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Product Management, Customer Service, Operations, Legal, Finance, and Senior Leadership

  • Experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including your peers and leadership

  • Experience building measures and metrics, and developing reporting solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, or Advanced degree

  • Experience specifically in sports data, sports media rights, or live sports production

  • Familiarity with the global sports data and technology provider ecosystem

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while owning a business line independently
