Full job description
About: Robigo is crop protection without compromise. Powered by our proprietary ARGO™ platform, Robigo engineers biological solutions that outperform synthetic chemistries, giving growers the tools they need to protect their livelihoods and build a more resilient food system.
Position Overview: The VP of Business will lead commercialization of Robigo's lead crop protection products and build the foundation for further portfolio growth. Reporting to the CEO, this role suits someone who thrives at the intersection of dealmaking, financial rigor, and market strategy in a fast-moving startup. You'll partner closely with the CEO and R&D leadership to align commercial priorities with product development, and you'll represent Robigo's commercial and financial progress to the Board. Ultimately, you'll close the deals and build the financial foundation that carry Robigo through a successful Series B and sustained growth. This is not a 9-to-5 role. We move fast, we strive for excellence, and we expect the same from you.
Responsibilities
- Commercial Strategy & Deal Execution: Lead commercial deal formation across Robigo's pipeline to align with company revenue growth targets, from advancing near-term products to signed agreements to shaping partnership strategy and target deal terms for earlier-stage products. Bring fluency across deal structures, including licensing, distribution, and asset sales.
- Market & Financial Modeling: Build financial models to size market opportunity (TAM/SAM/SOM) and project how commercial deal terms translate into company P&L, informing both commercial and fundraising decisions.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with the CEO and R&D leaders to align product positioning and development priorities with commercial and market requirements, translating technical work into commercial narratives, positioning, and polished pitch decks for partners and investors.
- Finance & Board Leadership: Work alongside the CEO on core finance functions, including budgeting, forecasting, investor financial reporting, and capitalization strategy, with oversight of Robigo's controller function. Represent finance, commercial strategy, and progress to the Board of Directors.
Values & Working Style
- Relationship-Driven Negotiator: You build trust quickly and negotiate with precision, finding terms that move deals forward without giving away more than Robigo should.
- Self-Directed Operator: You don't need to be pushed into action. You set your own pace, hold yourself accountable to outcomes, and operate comfortably with significant autonomy.
- Comfortable With Ambiguity: You are highly adaptable, fast-moving, and solution-oriented. You bring structured thinking to early-stage environments where the scope was unclear and the playbook didn't exist yet.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 15+ years of relevant commercial experience in crop protection or related ag inputs, with familiarity across deal structures including licensing, distribution, and asset sales.
- Deep knowledge of the crop protection market and landscape; focus on seed treatment is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to build financial models projecting market opportunity and how deal terms translate into company P&L.
- Experience managing financial statements, annual budgeting, and financial models, comfortable operating as a company's day-to-day finance lead.
- Track record translating highly technical work into commercial narratives, positioning, and polished pitch decks for partners and investors.
- Strong relationship builder and negotiator with a track record closing commercial agreements independently.
