Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an experienced Web Developer to support and enhance Stanford's web platforms. This role combines Drupal development and maintenance with modern full-stack development using technologies such as React, Next.js, GraphQL, and Tailwind CSS. The engineer will work closely with technical leads and cross-functional teams to build, maintain, and improve web applications and digital experiences across the university.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Maintain and support Drupal 10 and Drupal 11 websites across Stanford's web portfolio
- Perform application upgrades, security updates, and codebase maintenance
- Develop and enhance web applications using React, Next.js, GraphQL, and Drupal
- Troubleshoot issues within existing PHP and Drupal codebases
- Build responsive, accessible, and user-friendly web experiences
- Work with APIs, serverless hosting environments, and modern deployment pipelines
- Participate in code reviews, Agile ceremonies, and cross-functional collaboration
- Support AI-assisted development initiatives and contribute to continuous process improvements
Skills and Requirements

Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Strong working knowledge of Drupal 10 and Drupal 11
-
Hands-on Drupal site-building, configuration management, and module update experience
-
Experience developing websites or web applications using headless CMS technologies
-
Experience with Node.js, React, Next.js, GraphQL, and Tailwind CSS
-
Front-end development experience with Twig, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
-
Ability to read existing PHP and Drupal codebases, diagnose issues, and implement clean fixes
-
Experience designing and documenting data structures, application architecture, APIs, SDKs, and process flows
-
Familiarity with serverless hosting, edge computing, and SSR, SSG, and ISR rendering strategies
-
Experience using containerized local development tools such as DDEV, Lando, or similar platforms
-
Strong experience with Composer, Git branching, automated CI/CD pipelines, and development, staging, and production environments
-
Experience working within Jira ticket queues, GitHub pull requests, and asynchronous code-review processes
-
Experience with GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar automated deployment tools
-
Understanding of web accessibility, usability, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility

Experience writing, testing, debugging, and deploying software on UNIX-like platforms and web servers Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

Deep experience with decoupled or headless Drupal architecture

Advanced JavaScript, Next.js, or React development experience

Familiarity with Acquia Cloud Next

Experience supporting multi-site environments or upstream code inheritance models

Experience developing custom Drupal modules and plug-ins

Experience mentoring developers or reviewing other engineers' technical work

Experience conducting code security reviews

Familiarity with design systems, component libraries, or Storybook

Experience with test automation and continuous delivery

Experience using AI development tools or coding assistants such as Copilot or Claude Previous contributions to open-source projects
