What you'll do...

Role summary:

The Senior Manager, New Markets & Expansion Finance will help determine where and how Walmart Marketplace should grow next. This role will support market prioritization, entry strategy, launch readiness, and early-stage performance management for new countries, seller corridors, and Marketplace capabilities. The Senior Manager will translate strategic opportunities into executable financial plans that balance growth, investment, risk, and long-term return. The successful candidate will bring structured problem-solving, strong commercial judgment, and comfort working through ambiguity with cross-functional and international teams. While focused on expansion, the role may also support existing markets and high-priority Global Marketplace initiatives as business needs evolve.

About the team:

Walmart’s Global Marketplace Finance team collaborates with leaders to drive growth by delivering accurate financial insights. The team supports expanded assortment, faster fulfillment, and reliable customer and seller experiences through partnership with Marketplace, Walmart Fulfillment Services, and enterprise groups. They translate strategy into measurable financial outcomes via long-term planning, forecasting, and performance management. Emphasizing intellectual curiosity, ownership, and practical problem-solving, the team provides opportunities to influence senior leadership and shape Walmart’s global digital marketplace. Strong communication and financial expertise are essential to success in this role.

What you'll do:

  • Develop market entry business cases, investment scenarios, and stage gates covering customer demand, seller supply, GMV, revenue, profitability, cost to serve, cash, and risk.

  • Partner across International, Strategy, Product, Technology, Supply Chain, Legal, Tax, and local market teams to move opportunities from concept through launch and scale.

  • Evaluate alternative operating models, identify key dependencies, and define the milestones required to invest, expand, course-correct, or exit.

  • Build executive-ready recommendations and track performance against approved cases after launch.

  • Support portfolio prioritization and flex into broader Marketplace projects, including existing-market growth, cross-border trade, and new capability development across the global portfolio as priorities evolve.

  • Proven expertise in financial planning, analysis, and modeling to support strategic business decisions.

  • Strong experience managing risk mitigation and implementing effective control structures.

  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to senior management and cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in supervising, mentoring, and developing high-performing finance teams.

  • Proficiency in driving business plans, measuring performance, and adapting strategies to meet operational goals.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to influence and inspire across varied stakeholders.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and 4 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or related area OR 6 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or related area.

1 year’s experience leading and completing cross-functional projects.

1 year’s supervisory experience.
