Job Summary

The Head of Infrastructure Portfolio Management provides strategic leadership and oversight for Alliant Energy's electric and gas infrastructure development portfolio, overseeing the planning and execution of a multi-billion-dollar capital investment program across multiple states.

The role provides leadership for the development and delivery of complex infrastructure investments that advance the company's growth strategy while maintaining a strong focus on reliability, affordability, and operational excellence. This leader brings commercial and financial acumen to shape investment priorities, balance competing demands, and drive long-term value for customers, communities, and shareholders.

As a key enterprise leader, the Head of Infrastructure Portfolio Management influences strategic infrastructure, investment, and regulatory decisions while representing the organization in high-impact internal and external forums, including interactions with regulators, customers, community stakeholders, industry partners, investors, and the Board of Directors.

What you will do

  • Provide leadership for the development and execution of a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of major electric and gas infrastructure investments across multiple states, ensuring projects advance corporate strategy, strengthen system reliability, support customer affordability, and meet long-term infrastructure needs.

  • Establish portfolio strategy, priorities, governance, and execution standards for major infrastructure programs, translating long-term business, regulatory, operational, and customer needs into actionable investment plans.

  • Lead and develop high-performing teams accountable for project development, planning, permitting, engineering coordination, commercial strategy, budgeting, construction readiness, execution, and delivery of complex regulated utility capital projects.

  • Oversee capital and operations and maintenance budget development and approval processes for assigned programs and projects, maintain disciplined cost controls, financial governance, and performance management to meet project commitments and corporate financial objectives.

  • Secure required regulatory, permitting, executive governance, and Board approvals by leading or supporting coordinated engagement with agencies, regulators, communities, customers, internal leaders, contractors, and other key stakeholders.

  • Drive rigorous project controls, schedule management, resource planning, commercial oversight, contract management, and enterprise risk management practices to support safe, reliable, efficient, and predictable project delivery.

  • Partner with executive leadership and cross-functional business units to evaluate infrastructure investment opportunities, resolve complex issues, remove barriers, and ensure portfolio decisions reflect enterprise priorities and disciplined execution.

  • Represent the company in high-impact internal and external forums, communicating infrastructure strategy, project status, risks, investment needs, and recommended decisions with clarity, credibility, and executive presence.

  • Lead analysis of potential future business opportunities, including power supply resources, contracts, and the acquisition, divestiture, or operation of energy assets that support earnings growth across the electric generation value chain.

  • Perform other duties that support Alliant Energy’s Values and advance its Purpose of serving customers and building stronger communities.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree | Required

  • Master's Degree or equivalent | Preferred

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 20-years of technical and/or professional experience required, inclusive of 10-years of progressive management experience required.

  • Profit and loss responsibility experience preferred.

  • Experience advising and providing counsel to executive management.
