We are seeking a Maintenance Superintendent to join our team in Lyons, KS . This role will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all maintenance activities supporting the Lyons evaporation and packaging plant. The role is responsible for the safety, reliability and performance of plant equipment through effective maintenance execution, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, maintenance planning and scheduling, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position partners with operations to maximize equipment efficiency, productivity and overall performance.

Key Responsibilities
-
Lead and develop the maintenance team to achieve department objectives related to safety, reliability, cost, productivity and engagement.
-
Champion a culture of safety and accountability by ensurincg compliance with safety, environmental, quality and operating standards, policies and procedures.
-
Establish, drive and monitor performance against key maintenance metrics, inlcuding planned vs. unplanned work, work order backlog, preventive and predictive maintenance compliance, asset performance and mean time between failures.

Direct reliability improvement initiatives through failure analysis, root cause investigations and corrective actions to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance.

Oversee effective maintenance planning, scheduling and work execution to maximize labor efficiency and equipment availability.

Partner with operations leadership to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) through maintenance execution, asset performance optimization and continuous improvement.

Manage maintenance spending through effective workforce utilization, contractor oversight, inventory control and optimal deployment of maintenance resources.

Develop supervisors through coaching, performance management, succession planning and leadership development to support departmental and plant objectives.

Partner with production teams to develop and sustain autonomous maintenance practices that enhance long-term asset reliability and operator ownership.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance maintenance effectiveness, productivity and cost performance.

Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including labor, materials, contractors and capital improvement expenditures.

Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
-
10 years of progressive maintenance experience in a manufacturing or other heavy industrial environment.
-
Demonstrated experience maintaining industrial equipment such as conveyor & packaging systems, pumps, piping, steam turbines and hydraulic systems.
-
Working knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, including welding, equipment reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance, and maintenance planning.
-
Experience leading supervisors, skilled trades personnel, and maintenance teams in a unionized environment.
-
Experience utilizing computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to support maintenance planning, execution, and performance measurement.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Maintenance planning and food grade plant sanitation experience.
-
Experience in a processing or manufacturing plant, or a similar industrial environment.
-
Journeyman-level certification or equivalent skilled trades qualification.
