Position Overview

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Financial Accountant to join the Financial Accounting team at our corporate headquarters in Kent, Ohio. This role is responsible for supporting the monthly financial close process, preparing management financial statements, recording journal entries, managing cash-related accounting activities, reconciling general ledger accounts, and assisting with external audit requests. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties

  • Participate in the monthly and year-end financial close processes.

  • Prepare and analyze reconciliations for various general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.

  • Prepare and distribute daily cash reports and process positive pay transmissions.

  • Prepare monthly management financial statements and supporting schedules.

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.

  • Perform monthly cash reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.

  • Assist with external audit requests and provide supporting documentation as needed.

  • Support continuous process improvements and other departmental initiatives.

  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience.

  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly and adapt to changing business needs.

  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA or other ERP systems is preferred.
