Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an RF Systems / Radio Hardware Engineer to support a defense client in Aberdeen, MD. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and troubleshooting advanced RF communication systems and custom radio hardware throughout the full product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have experience with RF signal chains, FPGA-based systems, embedded hardware integration, and hands-on laboratory testing using RF test equipment. This role will collaborate closely with embedded software, FPGA, cybersecurity, and systems engineering teams to develop next-generation communication capabilities in support of mission-critical defense programs. An active TS/SCI clearance is required. $40/hr to $75/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Skills and Requirements

Must-Haves Active TS/SCI security clearance Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) Experience designing, developing, integrating, or troubleshooting RF communication systems and radio hardware Strong understanding of RF fundamentals including filtering, amplification, frequency conversion, impedance matching, noise analysis, and link budgets Experience with analog and digital circuit design and PCB-level hardware development Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, or Embedded Linux Experience developing or integrating FPGA-based systems using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL Experience integrating embedded processors, FPGAs, RF transceivers, ADCs/DACs, or similar devices Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, signal generators, logic analyzers, and other RF lab equipment Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues at the component, board, and system level Experience designing RF transceivers or radios from the component/board level Experience with Software Defined Radios (SDR) and RF transceiver technologies Knowledge of RF front ends, PLLs, mixers, LNAs, power amplifiers, and RF filtering Experience implementing DSP functions in FPGA logic, including FFTs, filtering, modulation/demodulation, and digital up/down conversion Experience with RF and mixed-signal PCB design, signal integrity, EMI/EMC, grounding, and shielding considerations Experience with RFSoC, SoC FPGA architectures, and high-speed ADC/DAC interfaces Experience supporting communications, electronic warfare (EW), SIGINT, radar, unmanned systems, or other RF-intensive defense programs Experience rapidly prototyping, testing, and debugging custom RF or embedded hardware solutions
