Summary:
The Quality & Patient Safety (QPS) Nurse Reviewer and Clinical Specialist is the primary site individual responsible to identify quality and patient safety issues and develops interventional strategies which mitigate potential medical errors and improve patient outcomes. The QPS Nurse Reviewer and Clinical Specialist will actively advise and educate associates and the Medical Staff to improve practice habits and documentation to create a safe environment for the patients of Catholic Health. The QPS Nurse Reviewer and Clinical Specialist is also responsible for chart review for the following indicators: Peer Review, Regulatory Events, Complications, Occurrence reports, and other identified studies.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare related field required; Master’s Preferred

NYS License as required to practice in a healthcare field (i.e. Nursing)
FOR QUALITY & PATIENT SAFETY NURSE REVIEWER AND CLINICAL SPECIALISTS HIRED AFTER 09/01/2025

Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare related field required; Master’s Preferred

Registered Nurse must be currently licensed in New York State
EXPERIENCE
-
Three (3) years clinical experience
-
One (1) Quality & Patient Safety/Performance Improvement experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills
-
Must possess strong interpersonal skills necessary to work with medical staff, care management, patient care services, ancillary and support departments

National Patient Safety initiatives and Safety Goals (e.g. JC NPSG’s, IHI, Leapfrog etc.)
-
Exposure to sepsis and infection prevention indicators
-
Strong Organizational and time management skills
-
Strong leadership skills
WORKING CONDITIONS:
