Job Title: Test Technician

Job Description

The Test Technician plays a hands-on role in supporting production by performing a variety of electrical test operations defined by released engineering documentation. This position works closely with Quality and Production teams to identify functional issues in hardware and develop effective solutions. The role involves using diagnostic tools, managing test data, and occasionally supporting cable harness assembly processes in a fast-growing manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical testing for VSWR, insertion loss, phase, time delay, and capacitance according to established procedures and engineering specifications.

  • Conduct standard network analyzer calibration as needed to ensure accurate and reliable test results.

  • Perform in-process testing to verify product performance during manufacturing and final testing prior to release.

  • Troubleshoot electrical problems in production hardware, identify root causes, and collaborate with team members to implement corrective actions.

  • Create clear and accurate test data sheets that document test procedures, measurements, and results.

  • Manage test data to ensure proper recording, organization, and traceability for quality and production purposes.

  • Support production activities as needed, including creating cable harness method sheets and assembling harnesses.

  • Read and interpret schematics, drawings, and related technical documentation to guide testing and troubleshooting activities.

  • Use diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes and network analyzers to perform testing and analysis.

  • Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to continuously improve test processes and product reliability.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of previous work experience in electro-mechanical testing and manufacturing.

  • Hands-on experience performing electrical tests such as VSWR, insertion loss, phase, time delay, and capacitance.

  • Proficiency using diagnostic tools such as network analyzers or oscilloscopes.

  • Ability to perform standard network analyzer calibration.

  • Experience conducting in-process and final testing in a production environment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues in production hardware and propose solutions.

  • Skill in reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.

  • Experience creating and managing test data sheets.

  • Familiarity with using multimeters and other common electrical test equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with network analyzers and multimeters beyond basic operation.

  • Experience in wire and cable harness manufacturing, including assembly and method sheet creation.

  • Experience in aerospace or military-related manufacturing or testing environments.

  • Experience using Excel for data entry, tracking, and analysis.

  • Ability to learn new test procedures and equipment quickly in a growing company.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with Quality and Production teams.

Work Environment

The Test Technician works in an open lab environment, spending most of the day seated at an analyzer station performing tests and calibrations. The role is on second shift, typically from 6:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. The environment is production-oriented, with close collaboration between testing, quality, and manufacturing functions. Lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, multimeters, and related diagnostic tools are used regularly, and work involves handling electro-mechanical hardware and cable harnesses in a structured, process-driven setting.
